New Work Downtown

This Sunday I will be hanging 16 new acrylic and oil pastel paintings at Gallery 110 for my first Seattle solo show. The work will be on display through the month of March, opening on First Thursday, March 3 with an artist reception on the 5th from 6 to 8. I am working on a short talk about my process and thoughts about making things. Hope to see many of you there.

Garden Variety Doodling

Inspired by a new rainbow set of favorite pens, I spent some time relaxing with a movie on a recent evening, enjoying some plain old fashion doodling.

The movie - Wes Anderson's 'Moonrise Kingdom' was a delight. If you haven't ever seen it, you are in for a treat. Anything Wes Anderson, actually - the man is a kindly genius!

I also highly recommended mindless doodling!
And for those of you who do not follow my Instagram account and may be wondering, Flossy is alive and well, and counting the days until Spring.

She hopes to write to you here, soon.

I am excited to have my work included in the Bemis Arts Fall Exhibit this weekend, October 31 and Nov. 1, 2015. The show features the work of some 30 guest artists. I will be showing a mix of my large acrylic paintings and smaller work in oil pastel. All work will be for sale, including some small gouache paintings.

Incoming

Some of my very latest acrylic paintings and oil pastel drawings on paper will be hanging along side the work of other new member artists of Gallery 110 next Thursday through the most of August. I am so excited to be showing my work in Seattle's Pioneer Square area downtown, a dream I have had for a long time.

I have a new website

Thanks to a recent workshop put on by local Seattle non-profit, Artist Trust, I have launched a new website.  The new site is an on-line gallery of my paintings and collages.  I will continue to maintain my blog here, perhaps posting more often again at some point in the future.  To see a comprehensive selection of my latest work, please come have a look at my new gallery.

What I am doing these days

I have been falling down on my promise to post each week mostly because I have been reading books with the time I usually spend in Blogland.  (Highly recommended are 'Finn and Lady', ' In the Woods' and 'Sous Chef').

Work at the studio is going great as the autumn progresses.

Acrylic on canvas, paper and plywood panels with paper collage has been the focus.
Also continuing with etching at Pratt, which is playing into my images in interesting ways.
I am enjoying the wide range of botanicals that call Seattle home.

After work I have a choice of dozens of enchanting venues for our walks.  This is along the ship canal near Fremont.
Wishing you a glorious fall (or spring, if that is your hemisphere's season).
